Well after much debate and tasting I decided upon and IPA recipe and Dean brewed it yesterday. We are very excited about this one. More details will follow once its closer to the release date.
I"ve been asked many time about what happend to our old India Red Ale. Well here is the story. Back in 2004 we started the Landmark Brewing Company and contracted with River Horse Brewing of Lambertville, NJ to brew our beer. Landmark India Red Ale was born. Sales started off brisk and than slowed down. During the spring of 2005 we made the decision to move production to a NY brewer. That process took a lot longer than anticipated, several months turned into a year. During that time our wholesaler here in NY went out of business. We decided that since we were out of the market for so long we renamed ourselves the Landmark Beer Company. With our rebirth we also changed the IRA recipe, renamed it Colonel Hops Red Ale. All brewing is now done at Wagner Valley Brewing in Lodi. Thats the short story.

Session Beers
Session beers, the elusive beers to brew and sell. I love a good English Bitter. One that got lots of maltyiness and subtle hop flavor with and an enticing earthy Kent Goldings aroma. They have broad appeal but are tough to sell. Its hard to butt heads with some of the larger micros that have been around for some time. I think eventually we'll come out with a seasonal session ale or maybe even a lager. Anyone who knows me knows that I have a tough time deciding on what to brew. I always love to hear what customers are think so your emails are welcome.
IPA is closer to being brewed. Some ingredients have to ordered and the recipe is close to being finalized.

Snowed In
Well we are getting tons of snow today so I've got sometime to write another blog. Brewed a small 5 gallon test batch of a possible beer this past weekend. Who knows maybe one day we'll bring it into product. Also finish 4 gallons of rootbeer we experimented with and are preparing to brew another 5 gallons this weekend. One day we hope to have our own rootbeer on the market but that's a while away. Thanks for all the feedback. Keep sending it to sales@landmarkbrewing.com

Label Approval
Well the TTB approved our IPA label design so now we go to prepress with it which should take a week or so and then get them printed up. This was the quickest label approval we've gotten so far. The Vanilla Bean took almost 2 months. I'm going to talk with Dean our brewer and see about setting up a brewing day as soon as possible. Check out our website to see the new label. It should be up over the weekend.
The other day I was reading Lew Bryson's blog about session beers and I love it. When I get my thoughts together I post about what I think about session beers.
Cheers

Second time not a charm
Well it took me 10 minutes to login today. Guess I should remember who is hosting my blog. As far as new stuff going on we submitted label approval paperwork for Landmark India Pale Ale. This will be our 3rd year round beer. Look for it to be BIG and HOPPY. Lots of high alpha hops, 7%ABV and 70IBUs. Really looking forward to this one. People have been asking for it since I brewed the first and long gone India Red Ale. I'm hopping to use this blog to better know the people who drink my beer so please email me with any question or comments and I'll include answers in my blogs. Look for two or so posts a week at first and maybe more if the reponse is good.
Cheers
